Joy Whipple

Joy wants to help members make fitness a priority in today’s fast-paced world. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Lafayette College, and her personal training certification from the American Council on Exercise. She is CPR/ AED certified. Prior to her career in fitness, Joy worked as a computer programmer and then took time to raise her family. For over a decade, she has worked as a personal trainer and a small group fitness instructor who helps others achieve optimum health.

Her fitness programs focus on strengthening, toning, and returning and maintaining function. She complements customized workouts with the Center’s extensive variety of exercise equipment. Joy’s goal is to help her clients enjoy exercise and find ways to balance life so exercise becomes an integral part. She enjoys working with clients of all ages.

Joy likes to spend her free time participating in activities that are simultaneously informative and fun. She also enjoys hiking, rollerblading, gardening, attending concerts, playing board games, and visiting museums and exhibits with her family. Her favorite food is chocolate. Fun fact: Joy held her high school long jump record for 10 years.

Joy believes an effective exercise program fits into the busiest lifestyle where it increases energy, stamina, and overall well-being in order to better enjoy all life offers.

What Joy’s Clients Say:

Joy has helped me understand the importance of exercise for a healthy life. Personal training with her has helped me lose weight and increase my strength and mobility. She adapts my workouts to what I need, some days more stretching and other days more weight training. Her bright, cheerful personality helps me through many workouts! Thank you, Joy!
